Seed Share

Seed Sharing Event Tuolumne County

The Seed Share, in collaboration with the Master Gardeners of Tuolumne County, provides an opportunity for the community to exchange seeds and listen to interesting talks about growing veggies and more. Thousands of packaged seeds are available for a donation, exchange, or free to local schools for their gardens. Local growers share seeds at the event or attendees can bring their own seeds and pass a few around to folks! FoCuS also helped other counties present their own Seed Share events and may even have seeds available to get things going.

Potato Patch

Potato Patch Tuolumne County - harvesting

The annual Potato Patch planting and harvest is so much fun we just can’t quit! Now in its 12th year and still producing potatoes, we, fortunately, have mechanized harvesting with our handy potato harvester, acquired through a matching grant with the Irving J. Symons Foundation, a subsidiary of the Sonora Area Foundation. Potatoes are sold for local CSAs (community supported agriculture) or through the local food-buying co-op. The Sonora High School Wildcat Ranch has also joined in the fun with potato patches prepared by the high school students so they too can learn how to grow their own food.
